5 Ways to Market Telehealth Services

Even before the global coronavirus pandemic sent families and individuals home, Americans were already considering telehealth — at-home medical care, checkups, physicals and more — as a viable + convenient health care option. In early 2019, the Virtual Visits Consumer Choice Survey from Advisory Board found that 77% of survey respondents were willing to try out at-home healthcare, and indeed, 19% of respondents had already tried it.

It likely follows that demand for telehealth services have only increased since this study, with more and more states imposing stay-at-home guidelines. A search on Google Trends supports this theory, with the frequency of “telehealth” and “health at home” spiking in search queries. The date this spike began? February 25, 2019.

  1. Market Your Telehealth Services online.

Right now, health patients worldwide are actively looking for home healthcare options. Help them find your service by updating your website’s on-page and off-page SEO and make sure your service is able to be found in search engines, in the moment those folks are asking for help.

  2. Stream your Services.

While patients are interested in telemedicine, they still may be a bit shy about pulling the trigger. Ensure they feel calm and secure by offering a free consultation either over the phone, or via video chat. Zoom and other similar platforms offer low-cost opportunities to host an online session.

  3. Offer creative payment options.

While consumers are clearly interested in telehealth, healthcare providers may not be up to snuff on their ability to deliver those services. If you can, offer your services — minimally, a consultation for a future appointment — at affordable costs, or provide payment plans that enable patients to afford your option when insurance isn’t available.

  4. Segment and Target your audience.

Teleheatlh providers are bound by HIPPA, data privacy, and other regulations. Choose your marketing mix wisely, and segment your audience to ensure that you do not target any folks with a marketing message that they can’t, or should’t, receive.

  5. Invite Patients to follow up with you.

Telehealth is new to most patients, and you can absolutely help your patients feel more comfortable with their at-home care options. Create a landing page with additional information that proactively answers their Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), and add a form to your website that patients can fill our for more information.
